Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – April 2025
The KAPSARC School of Public Policy (KSPP) participated as a knowledge partner in the second Human Capability Initiative (HCI), held under the theme “Beyond Future Readiness.” To address the development of human potential in the face of global challenges, the international conference brought together more than 13,000 participants from 120 countries.
As part of its participation, KSPP presented a masterclass titled “Opportunities and Challenges for Saudi Human Capability at a Time of Global Change,” delivered by Prof. Chrysostomos Tabakis and Dr. Emre Hatipoglu. The session focused on how Saudi Arabia can strategically respond to global shifts in trade, investment, and geopolitics to develop a workforce that is resilient and future-ready.
In addition, KSPP unveiled a new analysis exploring how workforce skills contribute to job resilience in a decarbonizing economy. Drawing on the Transition Risk Index, the study highlights Saudi Arabia’s position as having one of the most adaptable workforces for the energy transition. The analysis was conducted by Dr. Emre Hatipoglu, Aya Kachi, Cian Mulligan, and Manuel Ebner.
