Tazia Khushboo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at KSPP. An applied microeconomist specializing in labor and international economics, Tazia studies the incidence of global shocks: how they disrupt markets and who bears the costs they generate. She has worked as a research professional in the development sector for five years in Bangladesh. During this time, she collaborated with research teams at the World Bank, International Labour Organization, and various implementing partners on projects addressing gender-based violence, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. Tazia has an MA in economics from the University of British Columbia and a PhD in economics from the University of Calgary. Her dissertation examined the economy-wide propagation of oil price shocks to workers’ incomes and the pass-through of Canada’s 2018 retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods. The dissertation also made a methodological contribution by evaluating machine learning methods for building a product crosswalk useful for international trade research.
