Matteo is Professor of Quantitative Methods at the KAPSARC School of Public Policy and Professor of Econometrics (on leave) at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, where he coordinated the PhD programme in Economics, Statistics and Data Science (2018–2025) and served as Deputy Director of the Doctoral School (2022–2025). He has directed the research programme "Econometrics of the Energy Transition" at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and led projects funded by the European Investment Bank, the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, and the Italian Ministry of University and Research. He sat on the Italian national habilitation committee (ASN) for Econometrics (2018–2020). He has taught econometrics at Bocconi University, Hitotsubashi University, Eni Corporate University, and the Luiss–KAPSARC programmes. His research covers energy and financial econometrics, oil price shocks, and commodity markets, with publications in Energy Economics, The Energy Journal, Journal of Futures Markets, and European Economic Review, among others.
