Program overview
This program will provide in-depth understanding of levelized cost calculation, a fundamental financial policy tool used in calculating the average net present cost of a project over its lifetime, with a focus on renewable technologies. The participants will learn how to measure the cost per unit of energy from new renewables technologies such as battery storage, hydrogen, different types of solar technologies, new methods of off-shore wind and biomass. Financial modelling will be used to evaluate various issues related to measuring the cost per unit and the levelized cost of different strategies. The cost of these technologies will be compared to conventional natural gas and coal technologies. By working through various levelized cost of energy models, the participants will be able to see the nuances of measuring the capital costs, operation costs and financing elements of technologies. They will also practice the use of levelized cost models in devising investment and finance strategies in renewable energy.

Learning Outcomes
• Understanding Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE): Equip participants with the knowledge and skills to calculate and interpret the LCOE for various energy technologies, including battery storage, hydrogen, solar, wind, and biomass.
Financial Modelling Proficiency: Enable participants to develop and use financial models to assess the economic viability of new energy technologies, considering capital costs, operating costs, and financing elements.
Comparative Analysis of Energy Technologies: Teach participants to compare the costs of emerging technologies against conventional energy sources like natural gas and coal, allowing for informed decision-making.
Hands-On Application: Provide practical experience through pre-course questionnaires and real-world case studies, allowing participants to apply concepts to actual projects.
Independent Model Construction: Empower participants to independently create LCOE and financial models, minimizing reliance on external reports and enhancing their ability to evaluate various business strategies.
